How this wedding timeline works

This planner counts backwards from your wedding date instead of assuming a fixed calendar month. A June wedding and a December wedding have the same planning sequence, but the actual deadlines shift. Set the date once and each task gets a do-by date, from venue, budget, and guest-list decisions around 12 months out to final vendor confirmations and the emergency kit in the last week.

The checklist is a practical synthesis of timelines published by The Knot, WeddingWire, and Brides UK. Use it as a working plan rather than a legal, financial, or vendor contract deadline. Destination weddings, religious ceremonies, peak-season venues, custom attire, and local marriage-license rules can all require earlier action. When a venue or supplier gives a hard deadline, treat that deadline as the source of truth and move the task earlier.

The urgency colors are based on the task do-by date: overdue, due within two weeks, upcoming within about two months, or later. For a sample wedding date of June 15, 2027, the first 12-month tasks land in mid-June 2026, followed by nine-month bookings in September 2026, six-month guest and honeymoon tasks in December 2026, and final confirmations in June 2027.
